Dr. Grazyna Pajunen: You know, one of the things that I hear
Speaker:all the time is Dr. Grazyna, I tried collagen, I tried many
Speaker:joint supplements, I tried everything, and nothing really
Speaker:worked, and honestly, I understand your frustration,
Speaker:because millions of people are spending money on supplements
Speaker:for joint pain, for mobility, for stiffness, inflammation, and
Speaker:yet still are waking up in the morning stiff, feeling old and
Speaker:actually uncomfortable, so today I want to talk to you about why
Speaker:this really happens, and I think the answer is much deeper than
Speaker:most people think. The first thing we need to understand is
Speaker:that the joint pain is usually not just about the joints
Speaker:themselves. Your joints are part of the entire connective tissue
Speaker:system in the body. We are talking about cartridge,
Speaker:tendons, ligaments, fascia, muscles, skin, and even fluid
Speaker:inside the joints, and all of these structures are supported
Speaker:by something called extracellular matrix, or ECM.
Speaker:Now, that may sound very scientific, but the idea is
Speaker:actually very simple. The ECM is the bodice into internal support
Speaker:network. You can think of it almost like the living
Speaker:scaffolding that holds tissue together and helps cells
Speaker:communicate with each other. It surrounds cells and gives tissue
Speaker:their structure, hydration, flexibility cushioning and
Speaker:resilience. The ECM is made largely from collagen,
Speaker:hyaluronic acid, chondroitin sulfate, and other glyco
Speaker:aminoglycans, and it plays huge role in joint function,
Speaker:mobility, skin appearance, recovery, and in general healthy
Speaker:aging in healthy younger tissue the ECM is hydrated, it's
Speaker:flexible, it's constantly renewing itself, but as we age
Speaker:the system starts to break down, we produce less collagen, we
Speaker:lose hyaluronic acid, tissues become less hydrated,
Speaker:inflammation increases, circulation changes, and
Speaker:communication between cells becomes weaker. That's when
Speaker:people start noticing stiffness, reduced mobility, aging aching
Speaker:joints, slower recovery, and feeling older physically. Now,
Speaker:here is where supplements often fail. Most supplements simply
Speaker:provide ingredients, so maybe collagen powder, maybe
Speaker:glucosamine, maybe turmeric, maybe MSM, and some of those
Speaker:absolutely can support the body, but support is not always the
Speaker:same as repair, and this is where things get really
Speaker:interesting. The body works through biological
Speaker:communication, so your cells respond to signals. The
Speaker:connective tissue system, including the ECM, also responds
Speaker:to signals, so just swallowing collagen does not automatically
Speaker:mean that the body suddenly rebuilds joints effectively.
Speaker:That's one of the biggest misunderstandings in the
Speaker:supplement industry. Many collagen products are basically
Speaker:protein supplements, but the real question is, does the body
Speaker:recognize the ingredient as a signal for repair, because bio
Speaker:activity matters, and I think this is why so many people say I
Speaker:took collagen for six months and nothing changed. The body may
Speaker:have received protein, but not necessarily the biological
Speaker:measure or the biological message to rebuild connective
Speaker:tissue, and then there is an. Other important part of this
Speaker:conversation, medical interventions like steroids and
Speaker:hyaluronic acid injections. Now listen, both can absolutely help
Speaker:some people. Steroid injections are often used to reduce
Speaker:inflammation and pain quickly. Hyaluronic acid injections are
Speaker:designed to improve lubrication and cushioning inside the joint,
Speaker:so for some people these treatments may temporarily
Speaker:improve comfort and mobility, and I completely understand why
Speaker:people choose that, but we also need to understand their
Speaker:limitation. In many cases, these approaches help manage symptoms,
Speaker:but they may not fully restore the overall health of connective
Speaker:tissue. Steroids can reduce inflammation, but repeated use
Speaker:may sometimes negatively affect cartridge quality, collagen
Speaker:production, or tendon strength and tissue integrity over time,
Speaker:and hyaluronic acid injection may improve lubrication
Speaker:temporarily, but they usually do not address the broader issue of
Speaker:why the body is losing connective tissue quality in the
Speaker:first place. Why is the body producing less hyaluronic acid
Speaker:naturally? Why is collagen declining? Why is the ECM
Speaker:becoming weaker, drier, and less resilient with age? Those are
Speaker:the deeper questions. Because healthy joints are not just
Speaker:about lubrication, they depend on entire living system,
Speaker:collagen structure, hydration, circulation, cell signaling
Speaker:muscle support movement and the body's ability to continuously
Speaker:repair tissue and honestly I think this is where the future
Speaker:of wellness and longevity is going not just masking symptoms,
Speaker:not just temporarily lubricating a joint, but supporting the
Speaker:body's ability to rebuild and maintain healthier connective
Speaker:tissue from within. Now, of course, no supplement is magic.
Speaker:Lifestyle matters enormously. Movement matters, muscle
Speaker:matters, sleep matters, protein intake matters, blood sugar
Speaker:balance matters, stress matters. The body heals as a system, but
Speaker:when the supplementation is approached intelligently,
Speaker:especially with clinically studied bioactive compounds, it
Speaker:can become a powerful tool to support mobility, connective
Speaker:tissue, and healthy healing or healthy aging in general, and I
Speaker:think many people are finally starting to realize that aging
Speaker:is not just about wrinkles, aging is loss of structure, loss

Speaker:communication inside the body, so maybe the question is not, do
Speaker:supplement work, maybe the better question is, is the body
Speaker:receiving the right signals to rebuild and maintain healthy
